The last thing most people consider when they are buying a trampoline is the shape. Despite what you may think the shape of a trampoline isn’t just a cosmetic difference.  We only sell the round trampolines because they are more stable and a lot safer than one of those old school rectangle one.

So when it comes to shape you really you have to go for a round trampoline….if you can get your hands on one (I may know a guy  .  They are much safer and one of the main reason is what we refer to as “bounce rate” and that is the how quickly and strongly the bounce will occur.  So the further you are from the spring the lower the bounce rate, the closer you are the higher.  Therefore being in the corner of a rectangular trampoline the bounce rate is very high, in comparison to the middle of the trampoline. (does that make sense?)

Without trying to become a physics professor you can see that a big difference in the “bounce rate” would lead to an unpredictable bounce for the little kiddies.  This is what often leads to falls and injuries as kids jump further than they expect and faster than they expected.

No how does this relate back to a round trampoline??? Well because of the round mat the distance between the springs is the same all the way around and the only variation in the bounce rate is the distance from the edge of the trampoline into the middle of the trampoline.  This means your kids are sill developing their co-ordination and learning to jump to different heights at different speeds without too man variables.

This difference in the bounce rate is dangerous because your children may not be expecting this difference and can over jump and land dangerously.  This is one of the key causes of injuries.

Sorry if this has been a bit long winded, but it actually a difficult concept to explain easily.

But hopefully you get the main point, which is a round trampoline is safer than a rectangle trampoline.
