Trampoline Buying Tips For First Timers
Trampolines are becoming extremely popular both as a recreational and a health accessory and if you are also planning to buy one for your house, then you have made the right decision. However, you might find trampoline buying a little confusing because of the large variety that is available: ranging from trampolines in different categories and shapes to trampolines in all possible sizes being available in the market.
Buying a trampoline is not a tough task by any means, but because making a wrong decision can prove to be a health hazard, it is important that you do consider some of these points before you buy a trampoline for yourself or your kids.
- The first thing that you need to determine when buying your trampoline is the size that you want to buy. Trampolines are available in sizes ranging from 30 feet to 3 feet across. The size that you buy should be decided based on the area available for installing the trampoline and your budget.
Remember that an area of at least 5 to 10 feet should be there as free space all round the trampoline. The larger the trampoline, the larger should this free space be. So if you have a backyard measuring 30 feet by 30 feet, you shouldn’t be buying a trampoline more than 20 by 20 feet in size, and that too, when you plan to devote the whole space to the trampoline.
- Apart from the size, another major issue that you need to consider is the purpose for which you are buying your trampoline. Sports trampolines and exercise trampolines often cost more than regular trampolines, but if you are serious about using the trampoline as an exercise equipment, then you should definitely not scrimp on the cost because these trampolines generally come equipped with better surface materials, springs and safety features that will keep your joints and bones intact even in cases of overuse or accidents.
If you do not have a large area, then you might consider buying a mini trampoline or an indoor trampoline for exercising.
- The third major consideration involved in trampoline buying is the shape of the trampoline. It is easy to get confused when you see trampolines shaped in different sizes ranging from squares and rectangles to circles and octagons.
Circular trampolines are generally the cheapest and a good quality one can be used for exercising and recreation without any problem. However, when it comes to using a trampoline for serious sports, then rectangular trampolines are recommended because their spring system is more reliable with the springs being more regularly placed and allow for higher yet more balanced bouncing.
Octagonal trampolines also have springs placed in a manner that allows for a balanced bouncing experience as compared to round trampolines where a concentration of springs on the periphery makes rebounding in the center slightly dicey.
- Apart from these, there are certain safety considerations that you must always keep in mind when buying a trampoline, especially if it is for kids. An enclosure is a must have when you buy a kids’ trampoline and a slip proof cover can be an added boon.
You should also ensure that there is no way by which a child may get his hands or feet caught up in the springs or between certain joints of the trampoline.
Ensuring all these things will undoubtedly lead you to a trampoline purchase that is safe, long lasting, satisfying and enjoyable.
